Millicorp Confident FCC Will Reign in Call Blocking of VoIP by Prison Pay Phone Providers Securus and Global Tel

FORT MYERS, FL.  (April 21, 2010) – ConsCallHome.com, a subsidiary of Millicorp, announced today, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida ruled on April 14, 2010, that the Federal Communications Commission (“FCC”) is the proper and appropriate venue for ruling on the issues and concerns raised by Millicorp against prison phone providers Securus Technologies; T-Netix Telecommunications and Evercom Systems including Correctional Billing Service.  Case No.1: 09-cv-23093DLG Filed by Millicorp October 14, 2009).

The Court has recognized and deferred to the FCC as the proper arbiter for the call blocking issues raised in this lawsuit.  Millicorp understands the court’s decision and has provided the FCC an update on the recently concluded litigation and hopes that the FCC will quickly make a decision on Millicorp’s pending Request for Investigation as well as the Securus Petition. Court Ruling

In light of the Court’s ruling, Millicorp has requested that the FCC address the issues before it and bring resolution to this matter.  Through its filings in this proceeding, Millicorp has demonstrated repeatedly that the empty security arguments raised by Securus lack any merit or basis, in fact or law.  Millicorp therefore renews its request that the FCC deny the Securus Petition for Declaratory Ruling and prohibit the blocking of telephone calls to customers of lawful interconnected VoIP providers such as Millicorp by all inmate calling service providers.   “Under the current request from Securus at the FCC, prison pay  phone providers would be able to systematically block all VoIP phone providers which could affect over 20,000,000 households nationwide”, said Timothy Meade, President of Millicorp.  “This includes the families and friends using any compliant VoIP phone provider, not only ConsCallHome but all VoIP providers including Vonage, Comcast and Magic Jack, prohibiting them from communicating with their loved ones who are incarcerated".

Millicorp is a nationwide interconnected voice over internet protocol (VoIP) provider that is registered with the Federal Communications Commission (FRN 0018930511) and is a fully recognized telephone company.  Millicorp provides a range of VoIP services for small/medium-sized businesses as well as the subject of this request; a VoIP service designed to serve the needs of friends and families of inmates, known as ConsCallHome.com.  Millicorp’s ConsCallHome continues to provide safe and secure phone service to the families and friends of inmates.
